  1. It’s not a contradiction to feel that divorce does have a lasting effect on children, yet there are circumstances where divorce is inevitable and necessary. Authentic regret is not the same as paralyzing lifetime guilt. Children accurately sense and appreciate it when parents continue, despite obstacles, to cooperate and communicate around being the best, loving parents they have it in them to be.
