Shaun's clinical career has included substantial experience in psychiatric hospitals, both public and private, as well as being a clinician for inpatient and day treatment rehabilitation for alcoholism and poly-substance abuse. That early specialty in "dual diagnosis" clients evolved naturally forward into Employee Assistance Program (EAP) work. Shaun became the "in-house" EAP provider for the University of Southern Maine in the late 80's and early 90's.
That model for providing service meant that family problems and challenges - divorce, co-parenting, coping with school issues, special education, and other parenting concerns - were a regular focus.
Plus - in addition to helping individual clients with personal problems, Shaun developed an expertise in workplace issues, including troubled employees, conflict resolution, workplace culture - with a special emphasis on first-time and line supervisors and the particular "people" challenges they face.
Over the years, Shaun's services have gradually evolved to include online coaching/consulting - in addition to psychotherapy. Shaun has facilitated or provided literally hundreds of presentations, workshops, and "lunch and learns" on many workplace and human relations topics. He has taught in a variety of settings including the University of Southern Maine, Southern Maine Community College, and various Adult Education departments.
Shaun and his family live in South Portland, Maine.
